5 Powerful Lessons On Creating Breakthroughs.
“Learn to use the fear. Dance with the fear because it is not going away… use the energy.” – Tony Robbins.
COVID-19 continues to be an unusual, uncertain and challenging time for many of us. We have all been affected in some way or another, some more so than others. I have chosen to look at this period as an unbelievably rare time in my life to do all the things I have wanted to do, but have never found the time for. I have used this as an opportunity to reach out and build connections with others, work on developing my business and my podcast, and invest in my personal development.
Despite some of the live events and seminars I was scheduled to attend being cancelled, there have been some extraordinary webinars and events which I have found to be incredibly valuable. The Virtual Success Summit hosted by Success Resources Australia, has been an incredibly powerful online event, with an impressive line-up of world class performs and thought leaders. I have been able to learn from some of the greats including Tony Robbins, Jay Shetty, Richard Branson, Will I Am, Tom Brady, Russell Brand and many others, all from the comfort of my living room. This online event is broken into three series, over three weeks and 13 hours of learning.
The theme for series one is breakthroughs, and I wanted to share some of my key lessons and learnings with you here.
In his session, Tom Brady talked to his experience of evolving from underdog to becoming a world class performer. He shared some of the struggles he faced, the adversity he had to overcome, and the fact that some of his toughest challenges became his greatest lessons. He spoke to his experience of how the things that we think are the worst, often end up being the best.
Tom also spoke about continuous learning and development. Specifically, he spoke to the importance of trying new things, no matter how uncomfortable they may make you feel. Tom considers himself to be a late bloomer and says, “I’m still on the vine… trying to find ways to grow.”
Will I Am shared his journey on attaining global reach, and talked to the importance of connection and your inner circle. He said the five people in your immediate circle, is who you become. This is based on the principle Jim Rohn so wisely said, “you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
Will keeps a large, tight circle of people across a plethora of industries and countries. He spoke to the importance of sharing with those people, and asking them about their passion points. Will says, the people you spend your time with will shape your world.
Continuing with theme of breakthroughs, Jay Shetty shared a beautifully profound and practical method for finding your passion and purpose in life. He shared a four-step process that successful people take to start living meaningful and impactful lives:
Jay talked to the notion of when you use passion in the service of others, it becomes your purpose. Jay described this journey as interest is the child, passion is the teenager, purpose is the adult. He said, “when you invest in the seed of interest, it will grow into the tree of passion, and finally into the flower of purpose.”
Pitbull shared his experience of how his humble beginnings and earlier challenges inspired him to achieve his goals. He said that despite everything he has gone through, he has realised that “there’s no losing only learning, there’s no failure only opportunities, there are no problems only solutions. It all depends on how you want to look at it.”
Patience, passion and perseverance is what Pitbull has attributed towards his success.
Tony Robbins talked to the fact that the one thing that really stops us from living our lives and achieving our goals, is fear. Whether it is fear of rejection, fear of success, loneliness, what others think, not looking good enough or anything else, all fear ultimately comes down to the following:
Meaning and emotion is what ultimately controls the quality of our lives:
Meaning = Emotion = Life.
If you become the master of meaning and know how to control it, you become the master of your life.
There were so many incredible lessons and learnings on creating breakthroughs from each of the speakers at Virtual Success Summit. I’m really looking forward to consuming more incredible content from world class performers and thought leaders over the next two weeks.
