How I Organise My Life For The Week Ahead.
“For every minute spent organising, an hour is earned” – Benjamin Franklin.
There is nothing worse than waking up on Monday morning feeling overwhelmed and stressed. I’ve always found myself to be a naturally organised person, however it’s taken quite a bit of work for me to get to a place where I truly feel on top of my personal and professional life.
There are a few simple practices I’ve put in place to rid myself of Sunday night anxiety and to organise my week up for success:
Preparation is a critical ingredient when it comes to setting your week up for success. If you fail to prepare, prepare to fail.
One of the things I like to do on Sundays is to take 10-15 minutes out to review my calendar and write a to-do list. By plugging in key dates and setting out specific tasks for the week, I know exactly what I need to and am able to use my time much more effectively.
I plan and prepare my meals for the week on a Sunday afternoon. I buy groceries based on my schedule for the week. Most weeks I go grocery shopping and prepare all my breakfasts, lunches and dinners in advance. On busier weeks, I like to try different food delivery services. I am currently really enjoying eating plant-powered meals by Soulara.
Starting the week on the right note means a clean, fresh home. I like to ensure that my home is clean and organised, and that everything is in it’s place. There are a few things I like to do in order to de-clutter, and these include:
One of the things I like to do on a Sunday night is to plan and prepare my outfit for Monday. This includes laying out my gym clothes, towel, water bottle and shoes. When my alarm goes off at 5am everything I need is easily accessible. I also like to ensure that I layout my outfit for the next day. This is one less decision for me to make on a Monday morning and means that I can focus on other, more important tasks of the day.
I like to end my Sunday night on a relaxing note. Once I have planned and prepared for the week, I love to take a shower, put my pyjamas on, light my favourite candle and unwind with a good book or movie. This practice helps me to enter each new week in a calm and relaxed state.
What are some of your tips or practices for getting organised for the week ahead? I would love to hear your suggestions – please leave your comments below!
I am OCD when it comes to being organized. I can’t handle the stress of living in a cluttered mess! I always make todo lists and put everything in my outlook calendar that I’m doing in the day/week. I need to make sure everything in my home is away in its spot, and try and meal prep as much as I can. These are great tips. You are so good! The one think I stress over is preparing my outfits. As I’m packing for my trip I have a hard time. I love options and need to choose that day. Loved this!! XOXO OCD Jen
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback, Jen! So glad to hear you can relate to these tips and to ensuring everything has it’s place! When it comes to travel, I look at a few factors such as the weather and what I have planned for the time I am away. I usually try to pack lots of classic pieces that can be dressed up or down.
