UPW Virtual – September 2020.
“People who succeed at the highest level are not lucky. They’re doing something differently than everyone else.” – Tony Robbins.
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I spent the past 4 days completely immersed in Tony Robbins Unleash The Power Within (UPW) Virtual. I attended UPW for the first time last year, and to have been able to do it again this year was a real privilege.
I wasn’t sure what to expect going into the virtual event, specifically how it could be replicated at home. I was completely blown away by just how interactive the event was, and how closely it replicated the in person experience.
4 days, 14 hour long days, 12,000 people in 67 countries meant that despite this being run as a virtual event, the energy was electrifying..! The virtual event also felt somewhat intimate as we were brought into each others living rooms with their families, pets and significant others all getting involved.
Here are my 5 key takeaways from UPW Virtual.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from UPW Virtual is that energy is everything. We have more energy than we realise, and can tap into it whenever we choose to. I learned this lesson not only from experiencing four very long, intensive and physically demanding days, but also through recognising that we can create a beautiful state at any moment in time. Tony shared with us his 90 second rule – that is, whenever you feel upset, angry or frustrated, to train yourself to move past it within 90 seconds.
The secret to long term success is momentum. Human momentum is forward motion with emotion. Momentum can therefore become part of who you are.
In order to achieve momentum, there are 5 key steps:
Focus equals feeling. What you focus on expands. Whether you are feeling frustrated or worried, it has nothing to do with the event itself. Focus may feel like reality to the individual, even though it’s not reality in actuality.
Where focus goes, energy flows.
During UPW Virtual, Tony took us through a powerful experience called The Dickens Process. Although The Dickens Process is generally performed in an arena packed with a few thousand people, the process was replicated incredibly well as a virtual experience.
In the Dickens Process, you are forced to examine the limiting beliefs your hold in depth, and answer the following questions:
The exercise lasts for around 30 minutes, is incredibly powerful and transformative and leaves many people (including myself) feeling very emotional. It was through The Dickens Process where I was able to cut through and rid myself of my own limiting beliefs.
The best way to learn something new or to make significant progress is through total immersion. For example, if you want to learn to speak Italian, you are going to learn more from travelling to Italy and immersing yourself in the experience, than you will from taking a one hour class each week.
If you really want to learn something, don’t just dabble in it. Immerse yourself completely and wholeheartedly. Create space in your calendar and commit to doing this at least 1-2 times per week. This is where the real growth and magic happens.
My experience at Tony Robbins UPW Virtual was beyond what I could have ever expected from a virtual event. I am so happy that I blocked out the 4 days in my calendar to immerse in this experience, it was exactly what I needed and a truly transformative experience.
