Why You Should Treat Yourself This Christmas.
“All of us can improve the quality of our lives if we practice the art of self-care and and train our minds to think thoughts that make us feel good.” – Louise Hay.
Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year. It’s a time to come together, celebrate and create moments and memories with our loved ones. I am a generous person by nature and always think about how I can give my best to those around me. Whether it is being generous with my time, or buying beautiful gifts for others, I love doing what I can to make others feel good.
Whilst Christmas is about giving to others, it’s also important to remember to give to ourselves. I am a big believer that you have to be good to yourself before you can be good to others. Taking time out to treat yourself and self-care is just as, if not more important, than giving to those around you.
Here are some of the ways I plan on treating myself over the holidays:
I always focus on buying Christmas gifts for those around me, however I can’t say I’ve ever bought myself a Christmas gift before. That is going to change this year, and I bought myself a Christmas gift, simply because I deserve it! I have worked incredibly hard, have given up weekends, early mornings and late nights to work on my career and on Boss in Heels, and I want to treat myself to something I know I will love.
I’ve had my eye on these Chanel slingbacks for months now, and I purchased them as a Christmas gift from me, to me:
Taking time out to decompress and destress is so incredibly important to me. This time of year is when many of us start to feel run down and exhausted. If you can take off a few days off around Christmas and New Year, then do it! It truly is a wonderful time of the year to spend with family and friends, and equally to spend time recharging your batteries. Some ways you can self-care over the holiday season include:
Food is the centre of all festivities, and has a way of bringing us together. Some of my favourite memories have been when family and friends have all come together to enjoy good food and good company. Christmas is a time where I’m happy to let go of my disciplined eating practices to simply indulge and enjoy!
Whilst I am a big believer in maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle, it is equally important to simply just enjoy life and all the goodness that comes with it. So this Christmas, I plan on feasting and indulging and enjoying every moment of it.
