The power of the vision board.
Have you ever looked around and wondered why the people around you are more successful/ intelligent/ beautiful than you? Have you ever heard someone make a comment “How did she end up with him?” “Why did he get the promotion over me?” or “How did she afford to buy that house/ car/ bag?” As human beings, feelings of insecurity, jealousy and inadequacy can quickly spiral into our biggest fear of all, failure.
I admit to being a competitive person (which I think can be a good thing, when it comes to jobs or accomplishments) , however certainly not a jealous one. As a woman, I really do not feel the need to waste energy by feeling sorry for myself or placing negative energy onto others, or not being happy for or supporting the success of those who are around me. I am constantly thinking of ways that I can become a better person. How can I become more successful? How can I make more money? How can I better present myself? How am I going to make it to that next level? How am I going to buy that house?
I was first introduced to The Vision Board by my younger brother Tom, who swore on how it had helped him achieve some of his dreams and aspirations. He used to print images of cars, jobs, photos of the Hollywood sign and obtaining a Green Card Visa. Over time, I saw some of the items Tom had placed onto his vision board come to reality, and I became intrigued by his process of thinking, dreaming and believing. Tom beat all he odds, was granted a Green Card Visa and now lives and works in Hollywood. The Power of the Vision board is undeniable.
So what is this Vision Board you wonder? A Vision Board is a simple yet powerful tool that manifests your dreams into reality by activating the Laws of Attraction. When you surround yourself with images and reminders of goals, achievements and what you want to feel, it activates the process of visualisation, one of the most powerful mind exercises you can do. It can be as simple as buying a pin-up board, printing images that inspire you or things that you want to achieve, or things that trigger some kind of positive emotion within you, and pinning them up somewhere in your home or office where it can be seen every day.
According to the international best seller The Secret, “The law of attraction is forming your entire life experience and it is doing that through your thoughts. When you are visualising, you are emitting a powerful frequency out into the Universe.”
Oprah Winfrey and several other highly successful individuals have used this technique for generations and whether you believe it or not, the process of visualisation really does work. Every morning when I wake up and every night before I go to seep, I look at my vision board and reflect on my goals, how I want to feel and what I want to achieve. I can certainly look back and see that many of the goals and images I placed on my own Vision Board, have turned into reality.
As Will Rodgers says “If you want to be successful, it’s just this simple. Know what you are doing. Love what you are doing. And believe in what you are doing.”
